Although personal experiences are not enough to qualify as "evidence," I still find them fascinating. It's been a while since some members of Paramendel and I investigated the Sedamsville Rectory in Sedamsvillve, Ohio. Since we have recently posted evidence on the location I thought it would be appropriate to recount my time there. Back in November of 2012, before we were officially known as "Paramendel," myself, Sean and Joe went to Sedamsville with our sister group to preform an investigation on the infamous Sedamsville rectory. I had seen it only weeks before on the show Ghost Adventures. Reported activity was dark and demonic in nature. There are reports of dog fighting in the basement and a Catholic priest that molested children. All of this activity sounded pretty intense. It was interesting to be somewhere a team I look up to had been. I also had an idea of what to expect, which was good. While watching the Ghost Adventures show on Sedamsville, a few things struck me:
My dad (Joe) and I had one thought on this: If Tim was possessed, why would that dissipate as soon as Tim walked outside? Shouldn't it stick with him? Over the next few weeks my dad and I discussed this specific episode of Ghost Adventures. We couldn't get it out of our heads! Then we found out that we were actually GOING to Sedamsville. We were pumped. Despite my skepticism of the 'demonic' presence at Sedasmsville, I came prepared. I brought sage (to cleanse) and plenty of Gatorade, Water and snacks (to ground myself if I started picking up on too much activity). Upon initial entry to the building, things feel okay. There's nothing inherently scary about the place. It's old, kinda cool looking and still. I went on the walk through, filming Tim as he took us room to room. After the tour, Tim left and we were left to investigate. While we were preparing our equipment, I ran into a cold spot at the bottom of the stairs in the main hallway. Another investigator felt it too. It seemed to travel up the stairs. We called Sean over and asked him if he felt anything. As Sean was describing what he sensed, I saw a bright white orb (seemingly solid) fly past the three of us and up the stairs. I could hardly believe it. I had never seen anything so clearly before. I asked the others if they had seen anything. They didn't see it but they did feel it. We got excited that we were already experiencing activity and we hadn't set up yet! (It should also be noted that where we were getting these sensations and seeing these orbs, was the same spot Terri and Tim heard a deep (and audible) growl on the GA show.) Eventually we split in to teams. I ended up in the room of the priest that molested children with two other women. It was said that the priest doesn't like women in that room. As we sat on the couch, we started asking questions. We asked for the chair to be rock back and forth, the suitcase on the floor to be moved... nothing happened. Mostly, we were seeing shadows and getting sensations. One of the girls I was with decided to pray out loud. She asked the priest to pray with her. I began to feel my hair move on the back of my head. It felt like someone had placed their hand there. I waited, trying to debunk the feeling and then I started to get a sudden warm tingly feeling on my forehead. I mentioned this to the girl to my right. She started asking the priest why he was touching me. The sensation lingered while we tried to figure out what/who or why I was being touched. We hypothesized that I was the only Pagan in the room. Perhaps I was being blessed by the priest. It seemed probable but unable to be proven, so we continued the EVP session. Suddenly, I became sick to my stomach. I felt like I couldn't stay in that room for another minute or else I'd be cleaning the carpet. The EVP session ended and we went back to the kitchen (basecamp) on the main floor. The sick feeling wasn't leaving so I excused myself and sat in the spook wagon for a while. I drank water, ate some beef jerky and saged myself. I was certain I had been touched. Some people say that when you are touched the sensation does tend to linger and some people do get physically ill afterward. It took me a while to recover but after about 30-40 minutes outside, I decided to go back into the house. As I stepped inside, again, everything felt normal. Nothing paranormal seemed to be going on. As the investigation went on, I started getting irritated. I began to sulk in the corner during EVP sessions. This feeling moved on to straight hatred as we moved from room to room. I noted that these feelings were NOT my feelings. I knew I was picking up on something. I kept exclaiming that I was being "fucked with." I felt like something or someone was messing with me because they knew I am sensitive. I asked to be excused, again, and went out to the spook wagon parked on the street. Once I got outside, it's like the air got cleaner. I felt normal again. It was the strangest thing. I sat outside, thinking about the show, and Tim. I was starting to understand how someone could get irritated and straight up pissed off inside that house, then come outside and have everything be fine. It was not possession. It was more like picking up on the emotions tied to the house. It was like your annoying little brother playing the "I'm not touching" you game just to make you mad. It was just down right mischievous. I do not think anything there is demonic. Bad? Maybe. A pedophile? Sure. Mischievousness? Definitely. Demonic? No. I do, however, worry about those that spend a lot of time in the home and are able to notice that what they are feeling are NOT their own feelings but the feelings attached to the building and it's paranormal inhabitants. These emotions, unchecked, can start to mess with a person even when they're not inside the building itself. Is Sedamsville haunted? Perhaps. I definitely experienced a lot of things personally. I would love to go back sometime and document more. We'll see what we get.
